On December 6, 2012 I had one of the nicest things happen to me that I've experienced in a while. I was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Honors in Birdville, Texas. I grew up in Ft. Worth and attended Richland High School. (Go Rebels!) My gymnastics skills brought me many honors and awards and gave me the opportunity to travel and meet so many fabulous people, I don't think I could ever list them all.
Because of the things I was able to do in my sport, I was invited to be a part of this ceremony and it was so very cool. Not only did I get to hear the stories of the 4 other inductees, I got to reconnect with friends - some of whom I haven't seen in 20 years!
I am thankful to my former coach LaShan for submitting my name for consideration for induction. Not just cause it was such an honor, but because by visiting back to the area, I got to see old friends and make new ones too. Over the last couple of years (and particularly in the last 6 months) I have learned NOT to take friends lightly. Great friends are worth hanging onto. Clinging to when necessary. I love and appreciate all who have let me cling to them with a death-grip. I hope you have some friends worth hanging onto. Don't let them go. Trust me.
~ Peace.
